A COLLABORATIVE ART PROJECT
TO HELP THE TRASH-PICKER KIDS OF BALI TO GET NUTRITIOUS MEALS DAILY, CLEAN WATER, HEALTH CARE & A PROPER EDUCATION
THE STORY OF THE KIDS OF SUWUNG
LIVING AT THE FOOT OF A GIANT TRASH MOUNTAIN
On the 32 hectare-long, 30-meter-tall mountain, 1,300 tons of trash get dumped every day. A community of 400 families live there and survive by salvaging everything valuable from the waste, and most especially plastic.
KESIA & HER FRIENDS
ORDINARY KIDS IN A NOT SO ORDINARY WORLD
Kesia is 8 years old, she lives in a shady house of tin that she shares with her 10 siblings, who spend their days on the mountain picking trash…
She is a happy and quirky little girl who likes to go to school, to draw and to dance, she wants to become a teacher one day. She doesn’t see her parents much and has very strong bonds with her friends with whom she likes to play a lot.
Although most of the younger kids don’t climb the mountain to pick trash anymore, there are still a few up there and especially from new families. We try to assist them so the kids can join the foundation ASAP and stay safe in this little haven.

A CLEAR MISSION
DAILY MEALS, CLEAN WATER, HEALTH CARE, EDUCATION
RAGAM Foundation has been distributing Bungkus in Suwung every single day for over a year now, but funds are running low and we need to make sure the program is maintained as the kids would be malnourished without this help.
We are also working on a water program to provide them water that is safe to drink and educate them on the importance of keeping hydrated.
EDUCATION, EDUCATION,
EDUCATION!
THE KEY TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Our Angels are bright and eager to learn. We hope to offer them as many opportunities as possible, beginning with an exciting program where they will learn how to grow their own healthy food! We also are experimenting with a daily “game” to get them to drink water everyday.
Depending on amount of money raised we also aim to implement more educational programs:
Teach them health, environment, arts, music, to like reading books, to write stories, to dance, communication, technology, media and also teach them… To teach! In the end, we believe that the kids are the ones with a real potential to influence and make a difference to the people and the environment around them.

CREATING ART
TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT POVERTY & PLASTIC POLLUTION IN BALI
Plastic Angels is an artistic collaboration between outstanding Indonesian and international artists to create artworks in a variety of media (video, photo, stencil, painting, sculpture, etc.) using plastic collected straight from Suwung’s trash mountain and the beaches and rivers of Bali.
Each piece of art portrays a child from the trash community, it is linked to their individual story with a QR code which will allow to follow the impact that our actions have on them. The kids are very often involved in the creative process and our artists have regular classes with them to create beauty out of the plastic that they live in.
Raising awareness around Bali’s hidden poverty and plastic pollution problems is of major importance as there is still an unacceptable amount of people who are unaware of the alarming proportion of those issues on the island. We want to bring the light on the incredible social and environmental impact organizations that have dedicated their lives to making a difference and working towards the changes that our world desperately needs.
A MOVING EXHIBITION
