BALI AND ITS NEIGHBORING ISLANDS: One of the most beloved place on earth, receiving numerous tourists and expats each year for its rich culture and sumptuous landscapes. And still, very few are aware of the alarming level of poverty that exists on the island, especially since the pandemic.
SOME EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE ARE TAKING ACTION, often with close to nothing but their efforts, innovative ideas and dedication. The series follow their journey and of those they are trying to help, showing their extraordinary resilience, warmth and beauty in the midst of these challenging times.

DOCUMENTARY
An inspiring feature documentary highlighting the power of Art, community
and the beauty of the human spirit.
The movie follows the same group of characters than in the Web Series with a particular focus on our collective of creatives and their challenge to use Art and Storytelling to support Indonesians who are struggling to feed their families right now.
The movie will give light to the poverty situation in Bali that very few are aware of and provide exposure to the amazing people who are taking action to alleviate the situation.

With up to 80% of Bali’s revenue generated from tourism, the Covid-19 pandemic has taken a major toll on the Balinese economy. In the first 9 months of 2021, Bali saw 43 foreign visitors compared to the 6.3 million tourists in 2019. 700,000 workers’ jobs were impacted and 30,000 people have fallen into poverty.
Those that have been affected by this situation are finding it difficult to provide fundamental needs such as food, water and shelter, let alone medical care and education for themselves or their families. The alarming increase in poverty on the island needs our urgent attention.
If this model proves successful in Bali, we will look to expand it in other communities in other parts of the world that may also benefit.

We work with partners who share our values of transparency, community support, and sustainability. We select small- to medium-scale organizations who are versatile and able to deliver concrete support to local people who are in great need.
Just like us, our partners have a long term vision of creating sustainable impact – bringing education on top of emergency needs, so the communities can regain wealth, independence and pride and one day, help others too.
Using this as our guidance, we will continue to grow our partners list to expand our impact.
OpenArt 1000 Faces is a collection of 1000 portraits of Indonesians from the communities we are supporting. The sales of our NFTs will go towards developing the first humanitarian documentary and web series co-produced by a web3 community as well fund social impact projects on the ground that are making a sustainable impact in alleviating poverty.
Consent is a top priority for us. We have received informed consent from every person in our NFT portrait collection, documentary, and all video content we produce (including informed consent from parents/guardians for minors who chose to participate).
Our Balinese producer Gusman has led the process of informed consent with us by translating and explaining our project, including what we are asking of participants, what they will get in return, and answering any questions.
Non-fungible tokens represent ownership of unique items on a blockchain such as digital art, collectibles, game items, domain names and Metaverse land parcels.

The mint date of the OpenArt collection will be announced soon. To mint an NFT on our website you will need a crypto wallet (for example, Metamask) with some Ethereum to pay the mint cost and gas fees for the transaction.

While well-meaning, the argument on harmful environmental impact of NFTs is based on a misunderstanding of how proof-of-work blockchains such as Ethereum work. The carbon footprint of Ethereum, the most popular blockchain for NFTs, is associated with creating blocks, not transaction processing. Which means that “a full block containing thousands of transactions has the same electricity footprint as an empty block with no transactions.” (Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, 2021) In summary, NFTs aren’t directly impacting the energy consumption of Ethereum.
